Pedestrian and bike path and park

The Town of Chevy Chase  has two east-west streets connected by this small, well landscaped pedestrian path and park.  It is assumed that when Thornapple and Leland Streets were developed in the early 20th century the intent was to have them intersect and the Town retains an easement on the strip of land between the two streets. Approximately 15 years ago the Town elevated the path by landscaping the strip with a curving path, discontinuous stone walls and the tree in the planting box in the middle.
