President Teddy Roosevelt’s Church

Grace Reformed Church, 15th St. was where Teddy belonged when he was president, and during his term he laid the cornerstone for the building, which was designed by Paul Pelz and A.A. Richter, with sculpture by James F. Earley.  Pelz is best known as Image half of the team that designed the Library of Congress.  While Roosevelt walked to church, he is best known for his horse riding prowess against the Spaniards.

Chevy Chase Castle

Once an early 20th castle stood atop a hill in Chevy Chase close by Rock Creek.  The castle was demolished in approximately the 1960s for a modern housing development.

Only the gatehouse, adjacent to a small pond still stands.
